Floating Toilet

The competition task was to design a public bathroom in the beach by the Wisła river in Warsaw. The terrain has been frequently flooded. For that reason it was important to invent a way of protecting the building from the destructive power of water. My way of solving that problem was a ‚floating bathroom’ idea. In case of water rising, the building attatched to the ground by movable steel columns, would go up thanks to the air-filled containers installed underneath and then igually, it would descend with the descendig water level. The beach where the toilet was supposed to be situated is overgrown by a little forest so that I designed walls made of gabions filled with trunks of wood to match the building with the environment.
